Episode 43: 5 reasons why success is on the other side of emotionally letting go

Welcome to the SPS Podcast

Success is on the other side of emotionally letting go

“Just keep in mind: the more we value things outside our control, the less control we have.”

– Epictetus

Mastering how to let go emotionally unlocks success.

Unfortunately, you don’t get taught how to do this.

Here are 5 pieces of advice that will help business owners let go so they can grow:

#1: Stop working crazy hours

When you’re stuck, you think working endless hours matters.

It’s not until you burn out that you think, “What am I doing?”

It took me years to realize crazy hours weren’t improving my growth.

Let go of the idea that hours worked = results.

#2: Walk the path of surrender

You are taught there are only 2 ways to solve problems.

• Work harder
• Work smarter

But as you continue on your journey, you’ll learn that neither of these fully accomplishes your goals.

What you need to do is also let go of specific outcomes

#3: Letting go is simple but not easy

How do you let go of desire and attachment?

A few things that helped me:

• Adopting a flexible mindset

• Knowing that letting go does not mean not taking action

• Having a clear vision but being okay with detours to get there

#4: Let go to grow

A quick story:

The hardest part of my journey was when the results I wanted didn’t come. I was experiencing:

• Anger
• Overwhelm
• Frustration

But I missed the progress I had made.

This taught me to stop chasing and let go.

When I did, everything changed.

#5: You have to stick with it

Change happens slowly, and then all at once.

In the beginning, don’t be surprised if you experience:

• Ego resistance
• Difficult emotions
• Limiting beliefs

This is part of the process.

Every business owner I know who learns to let go grows.

Going deeper:

Letting go of your desires and attachments is essential to a successful life.
